General
The pantry looks completely different. Did I do something wrong?
Nothing's wrong and don’t worry, your foods are still there. We rebuilt the Pantry from the ground up in this update to make it faster and more organized. They're now sorted into dedicated tabs (RP Foods, Recents, Favorites, and Custom).
Will I lose my custom foods, Recents, Favorites, or meal history during this update?
No. Everything carries over automatically. There's no migration screen, no re-sync, and nothing to set up. The first time you open the Pantry after the update, your foods will be right where you'd expect them in their respective tabs.
Browsing, tabs, and your foods
Where did my recent foods go?
They're now on their own dedicated tab called Recents. Just open the Pantry and tap the Recents tab near the top. You can sort your recent foods by most recently used, alphabetically, or least recently used.
How do I find my favorite foods?
Open the Pantry and tap the Favorites tab. To add a food to your Favorites, swipe left on any food in the list and tap the star icon, or tap the food’s image in the pantry row.
How do I create a custom food?
If a food isn't in the database, you'll see a "Not in the database? Create a custom food" prompt directly in search results. Tap it to open the custom food editor, fill in the details, and save. Once saved, it's automatically added to your Basket so you can keep logging without losing your place.
How do I sort foods within a tab?
Tap the sort label near the top of the Pantry. It shows the current sort, like "A to Z" or "Most Recently Used." Pick a new option and tap the checkmark to confirm. Each tab remembers its own sort preference, and it stays saved even after you close or restart the app.
What happened to the macro-organized RP Foods browse?
It's back. The RP Foods tab is now organized into four collapsible macro sections: Protein, Veggies, Carbs, and Fat. Tap any section to expand it and see the foods inside. Each section shows the first five foods by default, with a "Show 25 more" button to load the rest.
Can I filter what I see in the Recents or Favorites tab?
Yes. Both tabs now have their own Filter button next to the sort label. Tap it to narrow the tab by food source: RP Foods, Restaurants, Packaged, or Custom. Each tab remembers its own filter independently, so filtering Recents won't affect what you see in Favorites.
What does the Filter button on the RP Foods tab do?
The RP Foods tab has its own subgroup filter that lets you narrow the list by classification, like Protein Recommended, Use Sparingly, or Before Bed. Tap the Filter button, select one or more options, and the list updates to show only those foods. Each option shows a count of how many foods match for your current meal. Tap "Clear all" to reset.
Why are some RP foods showing up in what seems like the wrong macro section?
Foods are grouped by their primary macro classification, which can sometimes result in higher-fat meats appearing in the Fat section rather than Protein. This is a data classification issue we're actively reviewing, not a bug with the Pantry itself.
Search
Why does search show some results right away and others a moment later?
Search runs in two stages at the same time. Your saved foods (RP Foods, Recents, Favorites, and Custom) appear almost instantly because they're matched locally on your device. Results from the broader restaurant and packaged-food database take a moment longer and appear under a "More results" section. The total experience is faster than before.
I typed something and a "Did you mean" suggestion appeared. What is that?
If you mistype a food name, the Pantry will suggest the corrected spelling after a short pause. Tap the suggestion to re-run the search with the correction, or tap the X to dismiss it.
How do I narrow my search results by source?
While searching, tap the filter button to open the source filter sheet. You can choose to show results from Recents, Favorites, RP Foods, Custom, Restaurants, or Packaged foods only. Tap "Clear all" to reset. Note that the Restaurants and Packaged filters are separate toggles, so you can narrow to just one or the other.
What if the food I’m looking for isn’t in the first 50 results?
Keep scrolling, the app will fill in more results the more you scroll, until it runs out of results in the database. If you have multiple sections in the results, just tap the “Show 25 more” button at the bottom of the section to load more results. The section header will show counts like "50+" and "75+" while more results are available, and the "+" disappears once you've reached the end.
The Basket
Why does the Basket now have two sections, and what is the green "In meal" badge?
The Basket now splits into "Adding to meal" for foods you've selected this session, and "Already in meal" for foods already in the meal you're editing. Foods already in the meal also show a green "In meal" badge in the main Pantry list, so you can see at a glance what's already accounted for before adding anything.
I can't swipe to remove foods from the Basket anymore.
We replaced the swipe gesture with a trash icon on the right side of each food in the Basket. Tap it to remove the food.
