When you are ready to start building your meal you can find your meals outlined throughout your day under your schedule. Select the meal you would like to edit and from there you will be greeted with an empty meal window. To start add foods, tap the 'add foods' bar at the bottom of the screen.
You can use the global search bar at the top, or browse by scrolling through the filters RP Foods, Recents, Favorites, Custom foods (best for foods you cannot find in the database), Recipes, and Saved Meals. You will find almost all basic foods like meats, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, and carbs, under RP Foods, so be sure to select anything with the RP Foods shield for reliable measurements.
Under the RP Foods, selecting the 'filter by' icon will pull up a menu of filters to search specifically by protein, carb, and fat sources. The macro a food source falls under is determined by the predominating macro e.g. peanut butter, while having protein, has more fat and is can be found under 'Fat - Recommended.'
In the other categories, you can filter by RP Foods, Restaurants, Packaged food items, custom food items, recipes, or saved meals.
Once you have selected your food items, you will see them populate in the basket at the top of the meal.
You can use the basket to remove any foods that you may decide you do not actually want in the meal by clicking the trash can icon next to the item.
Once you have your foods picked out, exit out of the basket, then tap the checkmark in the top right corner and the foods will be added to the meal where you can make adjustments to the servings.
(Note: in these images, you will see a black lock icon. This shows that the food amounts have been LOCKED and will NOT be adjusted. The default when adding foods is UNLOCKED).
You can use the +/- keys to adjust the food amounts, or tap to type directly over the weight listed to adjust the serving.
For many cooked food items that you select, you can toggle between raw and cooked values, so you can measure either before or after cooking. Weighing before is great if cooking a single meal, but the cooked values will be easier for food prepared in bulk, e.g. if you are cooking rice for the next few days. If a food does not have the option to toggle raw or cooked, it is likely because the item's weight does not change much at all with preparation.
You can also easily preload meals by saving them as recipes, saved meals, or add by using our AI scanner!
Once you have your foods selected and ready to go you can check in your meal to complete it and log your meal when you have eaten it. Don't stress being slightly over or under in single meals. If you are +/- 10 grams here and there, it's no big deal - the goal with planning and tracking is be consistently near your targets, rather than be perfect. You can monitor your Day Status to see where you stand for the day. If by the end of the day it shows that you are on track at the bottom you are good to go!
